Two Concerts And A Broken Heart
I was given a second chance to see Savage Garden. The question
is: Do I take it? What is the answer? It doesn't matter.
- I wasn't sure if the original
ticket stubs were going to be accepted for the return
concert or not but I decided that I should keep mine
handy just incase. I had seperated them from my other
concert stuff because they were still soggy from the trip
so I wanted them to dry. Maybe they could at least serve
as a souviener and reminder... If I want to
remember it.
- That is when I realized it--
I couldn't find my ticket stubs! They weren't where I had
put them and I couldn't find them anywhere else. I did
have my reciept from buying the hat to prove I was there,
along with the arm band they gave us to designate those
old enough to drink from those who weren't. I should have
seen this coming but I wasn't going to get upset because
I didn't know if the old stubs would be accepted anyways.
Plus, it would be a while before Savage Garden could get
back to Camp Lejeune so the stubs would have plenty of
time to turn up. (or so I thought)
- I checked the BBS where
Darren had mentioned the return concert and the official
Savage Garden website a few times to see if a return date
had been set. But I didn't see any info. I figured it
could be months before Savage Garden could fit Camp
Lejeune in to their schedule, again.
- After talking to a Savage
Garden fan in the Camp Lejeune area a few days ago I have
learned that Savage Garden returned on Friday, July 21st.
Because I live over 250 miles from Camp Lejeune I was not
aware they had been rescheduled so soon. I thought it
would be nearly September before they could come back,
certianly not just under a week. So, I missed the concert
again. This time because I didn't make it to Camp
Lejeune.
- It was disappointing to miss
Savage Garden, for the second time, but it was something
that I had practice on. With "Murphy's Law" it
is obvious that I was simply not meant to see Savage
Garden and that is something I have come to accept.
Murphy can slow me down but he won't stop me. Darren's
lyrics remind me of this-- "Another ditch in
the road, you keep moving. Another stop sign, you keep
moving on." (Two
Beds And A Coffee Machine). Murphy's Law may try to slow
me down but I must keep going and continue to resist.
I didn't get to see Savage Garden on their
Affirmation World Tour; but I'm sure there was a good reason for
it. Perhaps if there is ever a third tour I'll be able to see
them then? Until then I have my CDs to listen to and Savage
Garden's gift of inspiration to be my guiding force. To
all who will see Savage Garden this summer-- Consider
yourself blessed for the opportunity to enjoy their music in
person. To Savage Garden-- Thanks for music
divine and never ceasing to wow us!
